Friday Updates

  • The SYS late application deadline for the 2008-2009 season is today, Friday, May 2nd.  No applications will be accepted after today. Audition dates are May 30, May 31 and June 1.  You will be notified of your audition time via e-mail no later than May 16th.  If you do not hear anything by May 16 please contact the SYS office.

  • We have several volunteer needs in the next few weeks.
1.  We need some parents to help with the concert reception on Sunday, May 4th at                    Hiram Johnson.  Please contact Paulina Albuja (palbuja@yahoo.com) ASAP if you                     are able to bring food or drinks to the reception.
2.  We need several parents to help us with our mass-mailing next week.  Please                             contact Larry Rimando at lrimando@comcast.net if you are able to help with this.
3.  We need several parents to help with this year's Open Auditions on May 30, 31                           and June 1.  If you would like to help either by working the auditions or providing                       refreshments (breakfasts or lunches) please contact Jaqueline Lostritto at                                   stampznightaway@ncbb.net.

  • Please make every effort to attend the May 3rd Premier Orchestra concert at the Mondavi Center.  Tickets for the Premier Orchestra concert at the Mondavi center are no longer available for purchase through the SYS office.  You can place your order through the Mondavi Center ticket office:  http://www.mondaviarts.org/events/event.cfm?event_id=545&season=2007

  • All tuition for the SYS 2007-2008 Season must be paid in full no later than Wednesday, May 28th.  If a student's account is not paid in full they will not be allowed to audition for the 2008-2009 Season.  If you have any questions please contact the SYS office.

  • An updated report on volunteer hours will be mailed by May 15th.  Parents may elect to "buy out" any unfulfilled hours at a rate of $20 per hour.  Please make sure that you take care of your hours before open auditions. 

  • Please note that the new SYS magazine, Half Note, will be arriving in your mailbox soon.

  • Call Sheets for the Premier Orchestra A Celebration of Life Mondavi Concert on May 3rd are now available on the "Members" page.  Call sheets for the Spring Academic/ Classic/Flute/Vivace Concert on May 4th are now available.  You can find them on the "Members" page.  The A Grand Accord concert featuring all SYS orchestras and ensembles will take place on Saturday, May 10th at 3pm.  Call sheets for this event will be available soon.

  • Attention all high school seniors- The SYS would love to know what the future has in store for you next year (college, military, travel, etc...).  Please let us know. 

  • Kline Music in Sacramento announces their String Fling.  Join them on Saturday, May 17th from 1-4pm at Curtis Hall in the Sierra II Center, 2791 24th Street, Sacramento, 95818.  You can find more information on the "Members" page.
